RIS is a newly formed directorate, created to support and advance UCL’s position as a world leading research University.

The directorate is responsible for providing high quality research and innovation support that adds value to the academic mission, improving compliance with terms and conditions, policies and regulation, and showcasing the expertise of having a centre of excellence of dedicated research & innovation support professionals.

The directorate plays a critical role in supporting UCL’s research portfolio of approximately 5,500 active research awards and contracts. Our researchers secure an annual research income of about £525M through national and international research grant applications, and industry funding.

About the role

Applications are invited for the key role of Research Administrative Assistant in the Post Award team, Award Services. The team support the financial management and post award administration of the University’s research and innovation portfolio. Reporting to the EC Research Finance Manager, you will be responsible for effectively and pro-actively managing purchase order requests, audit testing samples, timesheet reconciliations and other ad-hoc queries.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across RIS, you will provide day-to-day support, acting as a point of contact for staff within RIS and the Academic Departments to provide an efficient and holistic post award service.

About you

The successful candidate will have experience with general administration, a great attention to detail and ability to enter data accurately. They will have excellent data analysis, reconciliation and IT skills, Microsoft Outlook & Excel in particular. They will demonstrate good time management skills and must possess the ability to prioritise and manage their own workload.

They will have proven ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy with attention to detail. They will have good communication skills and be able to build and sustain effective working relationships both internally and externally. Be customer focused and have a commitment to provide an efficient, professional and effective support service.
