Company Overview
Blackstone Europe Fund Management S.à r.l. (BEFM) is a Luxembourg private limited liability company authorized by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) as an alternative investment fund manager (AIFM) in accordance with the Law of 12 July 2013 on alternative investment fund managers, as amended.
BEFM manages several alternative investment funds (AIFs) in a variety of asset classes including private equity, real estate, credit and hedge fund solutions. BEFM also is also authorized to manage separately managed accounts (SMAs) with a combination of these asset classes.
Job Description
Seeking an Analyst for BEFM Fund Finance Oversight team (“FFO”), for a newly established BEFM Fund Finance Oversight team (FFO), which will primarily be responsible for the oversight of the delegated activities and reporting in relation to BEFM-managed UCITS funds and/or BEFM-managed AIFs.
Responsibilities
In this role, the Analyst will be a key member of the FFO team responsible for:
  • Oversight of counterparties: FFO is responsible for oversight on certain delegated or assimilated functions including Central Administrations and Depositary Banks
    • Ongoing monitoring of the delegated activities: monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and collecting and reviewing board reports issued by the Depositary Banks and Central Administrations
    • Conducting due diligences on various counterparties and prepare due diligence reports for senior management
    • Implement, enhance processes: updating/implementing operating memorandums, and onboarding new counterparties
    • Effective control budget and fees
  • Depositary Banks coordination: FFO is under a separate obligation to ensure the Depositary Banks are provided with all relevant information they need to comply with their regulatory duties. This includes:
    • Coordination of the processes in relation to safekeeping
    • Coordination of the due diligences needed (e.g. sub-custodian)
    • Ensure robustness and efficiency of existing coordination processes
  • Reporting: FFO is responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of regulatory, tax and financial reporting
    • Coordination and review of the regulatory and financial reporting, before filing to the competent authorities and key shareholders
    • Coordination of the contractual and statutory audits as well as tax & VAT compliance
    • Prepare NAV error reporting to the regulator if needed
  • Technology projects coordination: FFO is responsible for the coordination of all the Luxembourg finance projects that aim at increasing efficiencies.
    • Understand the proposed projects, review the return on investment (ROI)
    • Actively participate in Blackstone Technology operating and development priorities
    • Monitor status of each project and coordinate with Blackstone Technology offshore team
  • Governance:
    • Senior management reporting: prepare high quality standards reports for senior management (Management committee, Board) on any FFO key activities
    • Contributing to the maintenance and enhancement of policies and procedures
    • Support launch of new fund onboardings and delegates
  • Team and group relationships:
    • Participate to the coaching of the FFO offshore consultants, ensuring that responsibilities and tasks are appropriately assigned and monitored
    • Actively fostering team spirit between the FFO offshore consultants and the Luxembourg team
    • Establishing and maintaining effective collaboration with other Blackstone offices as well as BEFM teams
Qualifications & Skills
Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who work well in a team, are highly motivated, with a sound judgment and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors.
  • Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or similar discipline
  • + 2 years of experience as an external auditor or consultant in a prominent Big 4 firm with relevant experience in the finance industry
  • Exposure to UCITS and/or AIFs funds and regulatory reporting, along with a good understanding of investment funds industry is required
  • Previous exposure to regulatory reporting or oversight of delegates is an asset
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint required. Knowledge of Tableau or PowerBI is a plus.
  • Fluent in English, both written and oral
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A collaborative team player with a resourceful mindset and a focus on efficiency
  • Ability to work in a fast-pace environment
  • Demonstrates ownership and accountability, manages work independently and knows when to escalate matters
  • Ability to effectively connect and collaborate with international teams and thrive in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong multitasking abilities, excellent organizational skills, and keen attention to detail
