Job Description
Responsibilities
Reporting to Senior Director of Corporate Affairs Japan & Asia Pacific (in region) and as a member of the Korea Leadership Team led by General Manager Korea (in affiliate), this role is based in Seoul and is responsible to:
  • Build and enhance the reputation of Amgen in Korea through strategic, long-term relationships with key external stakeholders, including key media contacts, patient advocacy groups and KOLS in line with business objectives.
  • Develop and execute high-impact, integrated (traditional, digital and social) communications strategy to support prioritized therapeutic areas, brand and business enterprise initiatives, in line with global and regional strategies, with measurable outcomes.
  • Drive multi-channel execution of disease state educational campaigns to heighten therapeutic-area knowledge understanding and awareness among patient group and the general public
  • Develop and execute advocacy relations engagement strategy to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to build trusted relationships with patient advocacy leaders and members to elevate patient voice and address access barriers to care
  • Work cross-functionally as a partner and valued member of the affiliate leadership team, providing trusted counsel on a wide range of day-to-day communications needs to support corporate and commercial activities
  • Support affiliate leadership on communications for staff engagement and culture building initiatives such as townhalls, annual Kick-Off meetings to motivate and inspire employees
  • Enhance external reputation around key themes relating to global Environment, Social and Governance strategy, managing local philanthropy and volunteering initiatives, Amgen Foundation local programs and Diversity Inclusion and Belonging related efforts.
  • Prepare and train key executives as company spokespeople prior to external presentations and media interviews. Work closely with regional and global communications on issues/crisis management and to support affiliate Business Continuity Preparedness.
  • Manage and direct a team of 2-3 direct reports in the affiliate, be an advocate and champion for their professional development within the Global Corporate Affairs function
  • Ensure all internal and external communications materials developed meet local and global governance, code of conduct and follow relevant approval process in accordance with local laws
  • Manage affiliate internal (yammer, MSTeams etc) and external (LinkedIn etc) communications channels with respect to editorial and compliance requirements
  • Utilize allocated budgets and contracted third party vendors to deliver against objectives, budget and strict adherence to compliance/approval requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, public relations, communications or journalism or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Overall experience exceeding 10 years of Public Relations / Corporate Communications related experience, ideally gained in biotechnology, pharmaceutical or healthcare public relations from agency and/or corporate
  • At least 5 years of experience working with patient advocacy groups and/or professional (medical) associations
  • Excellent media relationships and contacts in Korea and the region
  • People management experience in leading teams and developing talent
  • Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal skills
  • Leadership experience of working in a cross functional group within a complex matrix environment, including developing close working relationships with international colleagues
  • Experienced in issue and crisis management
  • Working knowledge of social media monitoring and management of social channels is required. Strong understanding of digital across key channels including, web, social, mobile, SEO, SEM, and off domain.
