Umicore’s RISE 2030 objective leads to an extremely strong growth in Rechargeable Battery Materials but simultaneously also other BU’s demonstrate a strong Capex growth. This growth is facilitated by procurement professionals with strong leadership capability, who drive timely strategic alignment, risk mitigation and identification of opportunities. These procurement leaders interface with Engineering, the procurement organization and the external environment of suppliers and contractors in an increasing international and global context.
The Category Manager (CM) is responsible to identify risk and opportunities represented by this growth, to propose mitigation actions and strategies, with the ultimate goal to achieve the optimal TCO across the entire project pipeline.
The Category Manager develops and implements the category strategy across the entire project pipeline, and across all BU’s, in order to leverage Umicore’s growth ambition and to achieve optimal TCO across the entire Capex project portfolio. The Category Manager will form a network with Engineering representatives and will implement the category strategy through the project procurement strategies. The CM will take an active role in the procurement activities of each project, and will therefore work closely with the PPM’s (Project Procurement Managers) of the various projects. The CM will ensure the category strategy is approved at the CRM and any other relevant governance bodies.
As Category Manager, your main responsibilities will be :
- To understand the full project pipeline, and analyze the risks and opportunities represented by it.
- To have a clear knowledge of the international and global market context for the assigned portfolio.
- To interact with engineering, and conclude on risk mitigation and opportunities
- To propose the category strategy to the CRM and any other relevant governance authority, and define consensus on the category roadmap
- To optimize the use of commercial tactics and strategies in order to achieve the lowest price possible
- To interact with the PPM’s, and ensure implementation of the category strategy across the project portfolio
- To lead contracting efforts for the assigned portfolio
- To set up SRM (Supplier Relationship Management) and act as the one interface towards the identified strategic suppliers. Pro-actively manage risk.
- To mitigate expediting issues and handle claims
- To ensure correct implementation of tools, processes and standards
- To collaborate in internal and external audits.
- To imagine change, and will act as change leader for the assigned portfolio
- University degree, in Engineering, Economics or equivalent
- Procurement background of minimum 5 years (in function of maturity level)
- Competent (written and verbal) English
- Computer literate with good working knowledge of the MS Office package
- Must have the Knowledge, Experience and Skills to conduct their tasks in accordance with the rules and procedures set down.
